8(a), SDB or NEITHER?

Thinking about becoming an 8a or SDB? Do you wonder what to expect from the application process? Is it really the route you should go? Which one should I choose? What is the difference? Let’s see if I can help in the decision. There are definitely benefits to following this path. However, “Contracts Will Not Automatically Fall In Your Lap.” You will still have to do Marketing within the 8a and SDB environment. And it takes effort. ADEQUATE ACCOUNTING SYSTEM

Are government accounting system requirements only applicable for Cost Reimbursement Type Contracts? This is a widely misunderstood concept.  Many contractors feel that they do not have to worry about audits since they do not have any cost plus fixed fee (CPFF) type contracts.  Others feel that since their contract(s) are small they are okay. Boy do they find out the hard way that this is not true. DIRECT COST AND DOCUMENTATION

There are many differences of opinion and disputes about whether certain costs should be classified as direct or indirect. In addition, the use of ambiguous terms that are used interchangeably doesn't help the situation. For instance, overhead is used interchangeable in industry with burden, loading, add-on, management cost, general and administrative, factory expense, etc. That is why I am always bugging you to document your companies definition of the terms it uses.
